You know, during the cold war we kept the peace through Mutual Assured Destruction. If they went counter-value and took out, say, New York, we would take out Moscow, Leningrad, and something other major city. Nobody wanted to think about it, we slept peacefully all the while our missiles were aimed at each other (still are, actually), and both sides knew they could never pull the trigger without being vaporized themselves. Now we have these crazies saying they have nukes, and launching a jihad against us. I say we use MAD against them as well. We announce to them that if they take out New York or any other US city, we take out their value targets -- we take out Mecca and Medina, vaporize them so they have to track them to figure out which way to pray. Will they be willing to set off a nuke knowing the roots of their religion will be atoms floating in space? This is ugly business, but this is what we have to let them know we will do. And I bet if we announce that, the Moslems around the world may protest, but you better believe they will root out their own terrorists and get rid of them out of self-preservation.
