The lamb quota was against both Australia and New Zealand, so I don't think the yacht race has much to do with it... siliconinvestor.com I would attribute the quota to old-fashioned internal U.S. politics. Australia and New Zealand were obviously guilty of putting narrow international free-trade concerns above the broader U.S. national security interest of maintaining a local supply of lamb and wool. <ggg>
