Bill,
Re : "Whatever realities he brought with him vis-a-vis AMD were far more eloquently introduced by others with zero noise. Bad news or good news it happens and needs to be reported with zero bias."

I sure hope this happens.

Re : "As to him being right far more than he was wrong? I do not believe that. He is a guy that stands in the sunshine and says it is raining. He says the same thing when it rains. Of course I mean about AMD he was constantly and persistently saying the same thing...doom gloom."

But isn't that the truth at the end of two decades ? Many here on this thread are happy that AMD survived and consider that a success. I dont, as an investor. Same thing about Intel. It has been a failure as an investment over last 4 years. But I make no extra money and see no reason to feel good about my investment, if AMD has not done as bad as Intel.

Re : "Sure AMD is smaller than Intel, we know that and that is part of why we like AMD, the scrappy little upstart that it is."

This is where I might be very different from many of you on this thread. I do not have any special liking for a company because of its character or culture. I am here for maximizing my investment. And it doesn't matter to me if that happens through a scrappy little upstart of a huge monopoly (I do have my hangups about not investing in tobacco company etc, but thats a different story).

Re : "We carp at Jerry too, but he has gone further in life than I have and I dare say a lot further than Engel has."
It's not a fair comparison. Either you compare CEOs of two companies or you compare two individual investors.

Maui.
