we have killed a lot of Taliban soldiers. Tomorrow we will try again." ..........

The dead littered the land between the lines, and the wounded streamed out on both sides..........

and had seen dead or retreating Taliban soldiers wherever he went.........

"I watched them get out of the trenches and run in the other direction," he said, grinning. "That's when we killed most of them."

FL,
how wonderful that the reporters and the new york times can quit bellyaching. i can sense the excitement in the newsrooms...finally, they have some blood to write about.

but words do not adequately describe the ugly side of war. pictures barely do it justice, but they will be next. if we are really lucky we may get some film clips with sound and get to hear the unreal cries of people dying in acute pain.

when i was younger, i thought that everyone should experience one good battle to get the feel of a fight to the death and to witness the tragic carnage of such a fight.
i thought that would end war.
i was wrong.
humans are the bloodiest of all animals.
