Elmer,

I have no idea. However, AMD has to come up with a plan to become profitable.

Whether or not outsourcing is a good idea is debatable. For example, Microsoft does not manufacture their X-box's. Nokia does not manufacture their cellular phones. And so forth and so forth.

AMD must figure out ways to cut its costs and improve its balance sheet. I have my doubts regarding the outsourcing. However, I believe they must find a product that does not directly compete with Intel. Like I mentioned before, Cyrix had the MediaGX, a revolutionary idea, that caused computers to be cheaper since several chips were combined into one (actually 3, i think).

However, I do not see AMD exiting the uP business. What would be interesting, however, is the corporations who design RISC uP exiting the business to use Intel's. For example, Silicon Graphics and Intergraph (i think) no longer design their own uPs....
