I don't think you did bring up the issue of Clinton as "root cause." Your comment that the sex lives of leaders should not be the subject of scandal-mongering and muck-raking is one with which I agree.

Still, once the cat is out of the bag, how a man or woman handles it is a sign of character.

I believe it was Lord Wellington, who, when threatened with blackmail about a sexual scandal, told the would-be blackmailer to "publish and be damned."
