Fyo, It should be noted that the Parallel port isn't much better. [than USB] That pretty much sums it up. USB came into existance perhaps 10 years or later in order to replace obsolete Parallel and Serial ports, and it turned out to be barely superior to a stone age technology, and inferior in reliability. I recall an article about callers to technical support of a printer manufacturer being urged to forget USB and connect through the parallel port. Have you ever tried chaining e.g. a scanner and a printer to a single parallel port? I did not know this was possible. I don't know if this was part of the original specs. I used in the past external SCSI scanner and Zip drive, which was not very reliable either. I hope USB 2.0 or Firewire will prove to be more reliable. Joe
