What if a dirty bomb is set off in the U.S. by Jewish extremists who would love to see us bomb those mosques? The problem with nuclear terrorism is that we will probably not know the address of the sender. Therefore we cannot just start bombing mosques in 50 Muslim countries. Your idea is just a "feel good" notion that would provide a false sense of security.

Within a few years, I think we can develop some pretty good defenses and policies for dealing with biological and chemical attack. But like you I am quite worried about the terrorist nuclear attack. Improve general security, and curbs on foreigners entering our country, should be the first line of defense. We should support an aggressive international program to insure the security of radioactive material, and get it off the black market.

We need civil defense planning and training to deal with the dirty bomb scenario in one of our cities. We should take further steps to decentralize our economy. For example, there is too much financial industry concentration in NYC.

Most of all, we should hunt down international terrorists like bin Laden and his gang. If any of them escape Afghanistan, we should pursue them no matter what country they pop up in. We should overthrow Saddam Hussein.
