James,

My first reaction to this guy is, if you don't like the way America operates, leave! He seems pretty comfortable kicking around American policy, when in fact, we would have to look into every situation he mentions to see if it is as straight forward as he tries to make it. For instance, backing bin Laden at one time seemed to be a good idea. Look what has happened now? Another, backing the current Northern Alliance, might be good for the moment for ousting the Taliban, but probably might back fire in the future.

American politics is not as straight forward as the writer makes it seem. And no country is perfect with everything it does. But if I had to pick one to live in and love, its going to be the great USA! And if someone chooses not too, they should look around the world for somewhere else to go. There is very slim pickings!!

The writer brings up some good points, however. But his information is not 100% percent. bin Laden hates us also because we desecrated holy land soil when we killed Muslims there. Yes, it was in defense of the Kuwaitis because Saddam Hussein was going to destroy them, another Muslim. And we saved them! But that our government gets no credit for. However, descreating holy lands, thats his beef!

And Palastine, that's a bin Laden afterthought. He never mentioned that, as far as I know, before his terroristic act on the US. In fact, Arafat himself said not to lump their cause in with his. That's simply a convenient excuse to try to rally some bin Laden support.

So the writer saying clearing up the Palestinian mess will help this, is a making a huge leap to come to a conclusion with the bin Laden situation. In fact, bin Laden said he wants the Saudi Arabian and Egyptian governments overthrown as well. Is that our problem? How does the writer want us to deal with that?

And back to Palestine, the UN Resolution 181 of 1947 gave Palestine their land. The never accepted the resolution or wanted to acknowledge Israel as a nation, ever. However, between resolution 181 and the six day war in 1967, they never asked for a declared Palestinian nation. Why? Because the land was owned by other Arab countries. That was OK. It was Israel owning the land that was the big problem because the Palestinians never and still to this day, acknowledge Israel as a legitimate nation.

So in 1967 many Arab's decided that they would wipe out Israel and take back the land. However, in six days, not only did Israel win this war waged upon it, but won in the war the land that is argued about today and is the occupied territories Palestine wants back. However, they waged a war against Israel and lost the war and land. Now they want it back? But not only do they want it back, or so they say. But there whole fight going back to 1947 is they don't acknowledge Israel as a nation. So if Israel gives it back for peace, it will only be a matter of time until they want it all back. (They say in Arafat's office there is a map of the region with no mention of Israel. And the Palestinian charter calls for the destruction of Israel.)

Israel wants the acknowledgement they deserve and peace. (For goodness sake, they got the land mainly as a result of WWII, losing 1/3 of the worlds Jewish population. They needed to give the Jews a place to stay, to try to establish a peaceful place for them to live, that would not oppress them or kill them again!) In return for the acknoledgment they will give back the land. And the Palestinians have never agreed to that. So I ask the writer, how does he want the Palestinian conflict resolved? Give them back the occupied territories. That won't help. They want it all! So we should give it to them all? Things are not as easy as they seem....

So the writer trivializes much and in my honest opinion, has a very weak argument for solution to this current mess we are in.

God Bless,
IGIT
