Hello,

A pharmacist friend thinks the company looks interesting from a value perspective and he thinks the CMV drugs look good. I will query him more when I get the chance. In the meantime, I looked at the company's nicely done web page and found the following information:

They are located in "Genetown" near Harvard, a good location for a biotech company in their field. They have lots of PhD's on staff and published 46 papers in 1996. They are burning capital at a rate of $14 millon per quarter. They still have about $50 million in the bank. They have several drugs in Phase 2 trails. The company went public last year at ~$10/share. The stock has swung between 13 and 5 since then. It is currently trading close to 5. They have 25 million shares out.

From the looks of it, they are going to go broke soon unless they come to market with a drug or get further funding. They appear to have some strong financial backing from Monsanto.

I don't have any knowledge of their "antisense" science and technology, so it is hard for me to evaluate the company's prospects for their drugs in trial.

I am curious to know why my friend is more interested in this company than others in the anti-sense field like ISIS or Gilead? Also, why does he think that now is a good time to invest in the company?

I wonder, is anyone still watching the company on this thread?

All the best---Peter
