Indonesian Govt to Sell Stakes in Telkom Or Bank Niaga This Year

sg.news.yahoo.com

JAKARTA, Nov 12 Asia Pulse - The Indonesian government plans to release its stake in telecom giant Telkom (JSX:TLKM) or in Bank Niaga (JSX:BNGA) this year in a bid to meet the income target in the 2001 state budget.
"For this year, there will be a transaction at least in one of the two companies," State Minister for State Companies Laksamana Sukardi said at the weekend.

He did not mention other state companies to be sold this year, only saying that the government was preparing the sale of big enterprises, such as Bank Central Asia (JSX:BBCA), Bank Niaga and Telkom.

The government targeted to obtain Rp6.5 trillion (US$601.9 million) from state firm privatization.

However, there was no single transaction on the sale of state companies until early November.
