Your off handed dismissal of countries trying to overcome their internal politics and participate in the ATTACK ON THE US endears you to no one

And for HOW MANY YEARS did the US spend an inordinate amount of its national treasure protecting Europe?

NATO was founded on the basis of "an attack on one, is an attack on all"..

If that was TRULY the case and something that the European members (with the notable exception of the UK), we shouldn't be seeing "internal politics" being an issue.

I'm happy that they are assisting in protecting US airspace... But I'm not about to excuse the waffling going on by certain segments of these European societies who fail to recognize that these extremist muslims have as much contempt for them, as they do for the US.

And I'm not blaming the German military who, I believe, are chomping at the bit to get involved and deploy troops to region. I'm blaming the silent majority in these countries for not quashing the vocal dissidents who are unwilling to stand by their NATO committment.

I don't believe the US people would have been caught up in such a debate had the Soviets plowed into the Fulda Gap heading for the Rhine.
