Expectations of Windows XP to Push Down PC Sales Greatly in October
The launch of PCs preinstalled with Windows XP was scheduled on Oct. 25, and because of that, consumers withheld their purchases to wait for the new product to come out on the shelf. In addition, retailers were trying to avoid excessive stocks, and may not be able to reach the shoppers' requests until the end of October because increasing number of models are supposed to be out of stock. Because of these factors, PC sales will drop greatly in October from the same month of 2000.
