Since I live in the Washington, D.C. metro area, four miles outside the famous Beltway, I do know what it feels like to live at ground zero. We haven't lost as many people as you guys did in the WTC, but we've had the Pentagon crash, we've had the anthrax, and of course there is the constant fear that if they have chemical, biological or nuclear weapons, they'd try attack the White House, the Capital, or the Pentagon.
My husband works in Crystal City, which is very near the Pentagon, and across the Potomac from the Capital.
I have cried so much since September 11 that my nose is always stuffy and my eyes are puffy. I've got tears in my eyes right now.
But life goes on. We are not facing an equal enemy, thank the Lord. It's not like the Chinese or the Russians are attacking us.
Our enemies can inflict quite a bit of damage, but it's what they call asymetrical. |
