Fisher does a sensational job of pushing NBSC shakers and additional equipment. Some NBSC products are distributed exclusively through Fisher. I get a quarterly little piece of glitz from Fisher in the mail, and NBSC's products are often highlighted (although they were not featured in the last issue that I rec'd). There is consistent and very visible advertising in GEN. The ads in BioTechniques are less eye-grabbing, but I believe that they're effective.

When I was a grad student, one purchased shakers from NBSC. Such was the reputation for reliability. That was thirty years ago, and I honestly don't know if the rep holds. They had a lousy rep for fermentation equipment, but that's dogged them from very early efforts. It's been a few years since I was responsible for equipment selection, but I'd be seriously considering the small footprint freezers if I were outfitting a lab now. So........ my gut tells me that their market share is doing OK.
