What's going to cause that to change in the consumer space? Answer: Nothing. The consumer space is the realm of advertising and branding. Nobody is attempting either with Linux because nobody can figure out how to make any money from Linux.

Linux is far more likely to be successful in eroding the Unix server market than it is to make meaningful inroads in the consumer space. Certainly that is IBM's intention with their Linux initiatives.

Of course Linux hasn't been a colossal hit in this area...yet. Perhaps you'd care to address why the qualification is appropriate with regards to MSFT's market but not for SUNW's?
