Amein, your statement "there is a lot of evidence that there is a God" is strange, faith does not require evidence. If someone gave you "evidence" that god does not exist will your faith weaken? (that has nothing to do if the faith is Islam, Christianity or Judaism, since all accept as a fact that "god is", as per the first commandment).
Here is a little "mental exercise" trying to "prove" that God does not exist: If god exists, he is by definition "almighty". However, you would accept that God cannot create a burden so heavy that he cannot carry it. If he could (under the "almighty" principle), then he could not "carry it", and thus he would not be almighty. Will that little contradiction shake your faith? Thus, a faithful (whether Muslim or Infidel) does not ask for "evidence" of God's existence, nor does he base is faith on "there is a lot of evidence there is God". If that small contradiction causes you a problem, I suggest as good reading the book of Job.
