It's lonely talking to yourself!!!!But good news!!!!!
VANCOUVER, June 26 /CNW/ - Westmin Resources Limited (TSE - WMI) and
Atna Resources Ltd. (TSE - ATN)
Westmin Resources Limited and Atna Resources Ltd. are pleased to announce
high grade assay results and better than previously reported widths from
visual results on holes WV97-81, WV97-82 and WV97-84. The assay results on
holes WV97-81 and WV97-82 confirm that the base metal values were accompanied
by much higher precious metal grades over a greater length of core than was
indicated in the previous release. Holes WV97-86 and WV97-88, located 50
metres west of the Lynx Zone on section 16200E, intersected high grades over
narrow widths suggesting a pinching of the zone against the rhyolitic porphyry
body in this area. Drill hole data to date suggests that the thickness of the
rhyolite decreases down-dip which could allow for a greater thickness of
massive sulphides. Further drilling will be necessary before the size of the
rhyolite can be fully delineated and the potential for massive sulphide
mineralization defined in this area.
All samples from holes WV97-76, WV97-77 and WV97-80 were re-analyzed and
confirm, within normal analytical precision, the results previously released
on June 4. The grades and thickness of the intersections in all 1997 holes
are tabulated below.
Drilling will continue on section 16500E to continue testing the up-dip
extensions of the Lynx and Wolverine Zones. Stratigraphic drilling is
continuing approximately two kilometres southeast of the Fisher Zone, in the
vicinity of hole WV96-55, which indicated anomalous metal concentrations and a
geological environment favourable for massive sulphide mineralization. A
second stratigraphic drill is working near the eastern end of the Foot Claims.
Maps showing the distribution of the Lynx/Wolverine Zones and stratigraphic
holes are available upon request.
The Wolverine Project in the Yukon is a 60:40 joint venture between
Westmin and Atna. Based on 49 drills intersections from the 1995 and 1996
programs the geological inventory is 5.3 million tonnes grading 1.8 g/t gold,
359 g/t silver, 1.4% copper, 1.5% lead and 13% zinc.
