Nov. 12 — Victoria’s Secret says it’s ok to be sexy. The Diamond Trading Co. is positioning its jewels as symbols of family and commitment. Kmart is promoting its discount brands and beleaguered fashion chain The Gap is turning on the pop star power. Advertising on TV, radio and print is more important than ever this holiday for retailers and marketers as they try to turn skittish shoppers into eager buyers in what analysts say could be one of the weakest Christmas seasons in years.
