I have to agree with Dan3. IA-64 HAS to succeed otherwise Intel will be scrambling to catch up like they had to do when the Athlon came out and beat the PII. I am sure their plan is to keep competitors in line with the P4 on the desktop while IA-64 gets debugged on the server side and once the 64-bit OS and apps are solid enough they'll move it to high-end workstations/desktops and eventualy everywhere else. I hope they have some contingency plans in case they run into difficulties ( technical or not ). Constantine
