No there were other hostages being held in Lebanon. Ever hear of Terry Waite. And to me dealing in the covert in an honest effort to secure freedom of Americans or protect America even if breaking the US law (possible unConstutional law) shows true patriotism. All can agree or not with the method, but several decided to act at risk to bring freedom to other Americans and that is noble. There is also a question as to a separation of powers and if the Executive can be held to any law. So I don't know if any laws were broken. The issue never went to the supreme court for a decision and thus any assertion about breaking the law in an area of national defense is very ambiguous. You may not like it, but that's the reality.

Mr. Pollock took an oath to protect America and no argument can made that giving secrets of America to anyone is in America or any Americans best interest. This was clearly a case of Treason where an individual for personal reasons decided to break the law. Do you remember that Israel once attacked an American intel ship and killed several Americans. I don't know why it happened, but it did and was some of mr. pollocks info involved, most likely not but I don't know. You can't see that America's interest at times may be at odds with Israel's interest.

Now in the case of mr. bill there was only the issue of mr.bill's penile defense and as far as I know the first weiner is not protected in the matter of lying about his distribution of DNA. Mr. bill's personal assaults on other American citizens in not an executive privilege.
