OK, maybe the Taliban realized they would be easily taken by the N.A. They still have about 50% of the country and are heading to their strongholds. I saw reports of mutilation of pro-Taliban Pakistanis by the N.A. I guess the Afghani Talibans knew what was in store for them if they got caught by the "liberation" force. The poor Afghan people have to choose between the Taliban and the N.A., we should feel lucky to be able to choose between Republicans and Democrats.
The war continues and will for a long time, IMHO. Supposedly there are about 200 caves where the Taliban and Al Qaeda hang out when they're hiding. It could take a while to "smoke them out" as our President likes to say.
A good friend of mine is a Ranger reserve and is over there now, I'm sure. He was called up on 9/11, came back for three days a few weeks ago and I haven't seen him since. It'll be interesting to hear from him when he gets back. I'm praying that he will get back safely.
I'm sure our military are doing what they think is best, but I'm concerned that we might put in a bunch of ground troops who get surrounded by the Taliban and other Afghani forces. The tribal leaders there owe allegiance to nobody and I'm sure would sell information about American and other allied forces to whoever would pay them enough.
Well, that's my 2 cents for now, I'm sure there will be plenty more to discuss in the weeks to come, I have to go do some work. Bye for now.
