If there is a peaceful solution to Kasmir, I can see America acting as a bridge between India and Pakistan.

How can there be a peaceful resolution to Kashmir when Pakistan is still sponsoring terrorism in India? That's like saying there could have been a peaceful resolution to the bin Laden problem without the U.S. going after him into Afghanistan. What bin Laden is to the U.S., Musharraff and the ISI is to India. Indian civilians are getting killed every day in Kashmir because of terrorist incidents. These incidents have gone up since September 11 not down ... the majority of these terrorists come from Pakistan and are supported by the Pakistani government and the ISI.

Also, whether Musharraf stays in power or not I'm betting there will definitely be a war between Pakistan and India any day now. The only way there will be no war between Pakistan and India is if Pakistan is forced to stop it's aggression towards India in the way of state sponsored terrorism in India by Pakistan. That problem hasn't really even begun to be addressed the way it should.

Pakistan has been allowed to terrorize India because the U.S. needed them to defeat the Taliban in Afghanistan. India has been getting mostly lip service in the way of support of their fight against terrorism. This war is far from over.

There will also be civil war inside Afghanistan and Pakistan. I predict those two countries will split up into at least 3 different countries because of the differences within their populations. The Pashtuns in the south of Pakistan will probably form a partnership with the Pashtuns in southern Afghanistan and form their own country.

Lola:)
