Max, that is one place i do not have a paradox at all. A crash will cause permanent damage (the 10 years or more), will cause ballooning of deficits and will impede the potential of the economy. A managed landing, even though, there is a price to pay in the future, does not eviscerate the social fabric, a crash does. The economy is too big and not obsequious, and thus shocks will cause breaking rather than bending in the wind.
