<<Just curious, what are these, databases?>>

9i with Real Application Clusters is there new database introduced over the summer. noone has anything like it and allows customers to use win/tel software or sunw equipment and start small and grow as needed. this product will spur the asp market.

9ias is their product that competes with websphere, bea and iforce. basically, all of these products are commodity and are based on the java language. the benefit with 9ias is that it integrates with 8i and 9i and is faster. over time it will have more functionality than the competition.

11i is orcl's billion dollars bet on enterprise applications. they are building an integrated suite of software that can run an entire business from front end to back end. the product came out last year and had many bugs and implementation issues. some people put it down for these reason but one has to remember the size of this project and the time it takes to get it right. no other company has such a product or is working on one. if orcl executes they will dominate the enterprise software space. only time will tell. they already have the best small business suite available.

the future is in orcl's hands not their competition. as in most businesses it all comes down to execution.

rocky.
