The US helps those who help themselves. I submit that this is not true. It sounds more like what you think should happen. After what happened after we walked out of Iran, sans Saddam and without the capability of checking their nuclear and chemical weapons arsenals, I think we'd be VERY stupid to let that happen again. I do believe that Saddam has been both directly and indirectly, behind much of the recent attacks on our soil. Can you imagine our walking away from Afghanistan and leaving al Qaeda with some degree of power, whether or not with get bin Laden. It would be most short-sighted, IMO.
