Lars,

"Yes - unfortunately, the monopoly situation prevents Microsoft from bundling those two products."

They can bundle all they want, but it will not make a Linux/StarOffice bundle any less effective. Feature by feature the open-source crowd are gaining on the two biggest desktop bloatwares and the end result is inevitable. Microsoft cannot implement features faster than it takes to reverse-engineer them; the sooner they become an ASP the better.

One of the benefits to the consumer is that each industry can have a StarOffice that is more tailored for its specific requirements. Why should small businesses be forced to wade through the feature-list of a corporate spreadsheet full of intimidating and ambiguous menu options which only Fortune 500 accountants use? Big opportunity for enterprising people to take a core spreadsheet module and tailor it for more efficient use in specific industries or fields.

Cheers,
Norm
