There is no doubt that birds can bring a plane down, and that this may be one of those weird Twilight Zone cases where coincidences all lined up. However, I am far from convinced. The way this plane came down, with no emergency broadcast from the cockpit, in spite of eyewitness reports that it was a somewhat prolonged event, the tail far from the body, and the synchronicity of it all is too much for me. The best I would say is that, if the govt wants to hide the true cause, they can use birds as an excuse and no one will be the wiser. They NTSB lost credibility with me when they knuckled under to the Egyptians in the Egypt Air crash that pointed to the pilot commiting suicide.

Also, remember there is a strong lobby group out there battling environmentalists to control bird populations around airports. Not saying they're wrong, but this is their perfect case, and the way they are quick to jump to that conclusion is also a bit suspicious.
