I think that everyone is just so eager to get back the life we once had that ANY good news is something to celebrate.

If enough enthusiasm is built up, the momentum will start to carry forward. Once the winning side gets the upper hand, they continue to win. It happens in sports, it happens in the market and it happens in war.

People don't like to be on the losing side. This sounds redundant and it is but - losers lose. They not only lose the game, but they lose their supporters, they lose face, they lose ground, they lose respect, etc.

Once the Taliban has been rooted out of Afghanistan and they become a footnote, the whole movement will lose a lot of momentum. People around the world will want to be associated with the winners.

Who the winners will be, remains to be seen.

OBL will not be captured and "brought to justice." The Afghans will take care of him and make an example of him by displaying his dead body. It happened to Mussolini and would have happened to Hitler had he not committed suicide and his remains burned by his sycophants.

I agree that the war on terrorism is far from over - it has been going on for years and years and years. There have always been fanatics in this world that are will to sacrifice everything for their beliefs and there always will be.

They got in a lucky shot on 9-11. I doubt that it will ever happen again at that magnitude.

Terrorism will continue as long as little children are taught that to die for their religion is to guarantee them a place in heaven.

(a personal anecdote: as a child studying catechism, I used to dream of two things: that the Virgin Mary would appear to me and therefore make me a saint, or that I would be put in a situation of having to choose my faith over dying and choosing to die because it would make me a martyr.)
