Afghan women can go back to work and school AFP (Kabul, November 13) The opposition Northern Alliance on Tuesday told Afghan women that they could back to work and school, overturning bans by the Islamic Taliban regime. The announcement was made in a statement issued after the Alliance captured the capital of Kabul. "The mujahideen give the good news to all sisters and women of Afghanistan that they have the right to pursue education and work in accordance with Islamic teaching and based on our honorable traditions," it said. The statement, issued in the name of the Islamic State of Afghanistan, also said the alliance would "provide opportunities for work and training for the women of Afghanistan." hindustantimes.com
