Media will not report anything that truly exposes the extent of the abuse and corruption. Some leaks occur, such as the recent disclosure that Goldman Sachs and others got advance - essentially inside information - from Washington that there'd be no more Long Treasuries issued. But only the most extreme situations, such as the Enron mess, ever get extensive coverage. And it seems to take more and more to even shock people anymore. We've become numb to massive, institutionalized criminal, unethical and amoral behavior by the powerful.

Another example not widely reported: .As soon as the spotlight was off Gary Condit, after 9/11? The democrat leadership not only retained him on the sensitive house intelligence committee. But also awarded him with the additional appointment to the new Domestic Security Committee. So much for the standards of conduct in Washington DC.<lol>

But for all the blemishes our imperfect system is burdened with, it's a lot better than the rest of the world. So I hope the terrorists DON'T have suitcase nukes that would lower the population of our current ruling elite as per the concerns expressed below.
