It really makes us wonder how safe our retro-fitted aging airplanes really are, doesn't it?

The notion that a vertical stabilizer can just completely detach from a stress fracture, in mid-air, as a result of the underlying fatiguing composite material isn't reassuring at all. You have to wonder how much information the airline industry is hiding from the public in terms of safety and maintenance of their aircrafts.

This smells like a Firestone tire....
