Yes, there is no doubt that even a trebling of gas prices would not REALLY affect my budget THAT much (although it WOULD affect the economy...but my prepaying won't prevent the wider economic effects). For some of us, especially those of us "car" people, it's a deep seated automatic emotional response...rising gas prices is depressing and dropping gas prices is stimulating! I bot gas for 99.9 cents for the first time this cycle on Monday...down from 101.9 late last week. Just crossing into the two digit threshold was like some sort of major life victory. Yet I saved maybe a quarter. Go figure!
