It wasn't your suggestion that they be done in secret that I object to. It's Bush/Rumsfeld/DOD intention to retain the prerogative to conduct a military trial in secret if they so choose. The suggestion that they and they alone should be given the right to decide what should be kept secret and what should be public knowledge is a dangerous direction to go.

It's not that I think OBL deserves elaborate civil liberties. It's that we owe our allies and the world convincing information.
