just how long have you been holding intel?

Since about mid-September.

I am not a really a long term investor. I saw the possibility of the Pentium4 finally taking off after the XP launch. I see them gaining more and more market share.
IBM, Gateway actually stopped selling AMD chips this summer. Dell was all Intel and does not seem interested at all in AMD.
Intel basically hurt their competitor with massive price cuts this summer. I see less cuts in prices going forward as they get closer and closer to being a near monopoly. I would say they already are in the corporate PC market...as for their earnings, it is all about "margins".

The other reason for my bullishness is the growth in emerging markets while most analyst only seem to look at traditional markets..and at earnings times, some analysts seem to be scratching their heads not being able to reconcile Intel's reporting/outlook with what they see in their research. Remember one very important point----you can get illegal copies of Windows but there is no way you can get a Pentium 4 that way. That was the key for me.

I have held it in the past as well but felt that the success of XP and the need to buy new PCs instead of upgrading the operating system will work in a big way to Intel's advantage.

They are also into the X-box, pocket Pcs and really gaining momentum in the server business as the big companies like IBM, Compaq etc.are turning Intel processors.

Basically, trying to out-think the analysts.

I think you only asked about when I got into Intel.<g>
Sorry, I could not help going on and on about my reasons.<g>
