Mr. Alsuezi:

This is in reference to my previous post, and something I forgot to express.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Islam promoting wife beating, or encouraging the killing of non-Moslems, in a sense that if this is what the faith and religion is about, then that is how it is, and neither you nor anyone else can change it. It is sort of like the color of a red rose being red. It is the fact. One can not - and in fact should not be - defensive of that. As you have indicated in your post where you state:

+++++++++also, if one happens not to like the reference of a husband beating his wife, but believes that the Qur'an is the word of God... should one then question the wisdom in the verse ? I personally do not.

All I am trying to understand is whether this is what Quran says (and therefore Moslems believe God is saying). Why should you be so defensive of this fact, and why should you be bothered about it. As I stated if this is what Islam says, then so be it. Again the red rose's color is red, one cannot possibly feel he/she should be defensive about the color of the red rose, and should not try to speak of the color as being white, or yellow, or a dark orange, etc. It is Red and so be it.

If you believe this is what Quran says and what a Moslem man should do (for example to beat and punish his wife if he feels she is not obeying him and his interpretation of Islam) then that is fine. That is what the faith says (just like how the color of a red rose is red); and you are simply following what you believe to be the correct way of life. As a human being you do have the right to live your life anyway you wish, and do not need to be defensive about it for which it is your belief.

Sincerely,

Mr. Stevenson
