wbwm, No, I in turn disagree with you, for this reason. It extends the window for Intel to get approval and Compaq and at other places(which ones, I do not know, but some will hesitate)
That will give AMD a shot at some of those sockets, esp as others see severs based on AMD parts being made and sold. It is true that these initial servers sales for the MP and other AMD products will be small, but a small sales profile can grow into a larger one with Intel having a problem. Now Intel can solve the problem in a month or two, but some mindshare will have looked at AMD and some will buy.

For example, the well known shortage of P-4 parts has caused a shortage of AMD Athlons, simply people who want a computer today can buy one if they want AMD. If they want Dell, add 40 days. and 40 nights, before Intel come out of the wilderness.

That Athlon shortage has upped the retail ASP for AMD and that will help.
