This is a good point. AMD certainly has its unit sales numbers. If sales were up by even a small amount AMD would say "unit sales are up over a year ago". It sounds like progress and it is. If sales were virtually the same, within the limits of measurement, AMD would say that.

The only reason to use "relatively flat" is too avoid the admission that sales are down.

How large is relatively? Who knows. It could be as much as 5% but that would really stretch the limits.
