That's still very respectable compared to the '98 bottom backlog of $917 million and higher than the last quarterly backlog of $2.65 billion.

Gottfried, that's true. However, note that AMAT's split adjusted price at the Oct 98 bottom was $11. Also note that the world was not emerging from the aftermath of one of the greatest speculative bubbles in history at that time.
