AngloGold response to Newmont bid for Normandy

The bid by Newmont Mining Corporation for Normandy Mining Limited values Normandy at $1.51 (which could increase by 5 cents per share in the event of a 90% acceptance of the offer), based on Newmont's closing share price on Wednesday 14 November on the New York Stock Exchange. This compares with the current value of the AngloGold offer to Normandy shareholders of $1.47 per share, also based on yesterday's closing AngloGold share price on the NYSE.

The combination of AngloGold and Normandy offers a compelling strategic fit of assets, a sustainable high dividend and the real possibility of significant share price growth.

AngloGold is considering the Newmont proposal in the light of the strategic and value-adding merits of its own offer and will respond appropriately in due course. AngloGold will only pursue a course of action that delivers demonstrable value for shareholders.

I like the idea of "compelling strategic fit". Sounds like some very horny guy proposing a sexual act!
