I'm afraid Jewish banks are not the only ones involved in money laundering...
As regards Israel, I think its ruling elites should tackle the restructuring of Israel's economy pronto --especially with the prospect of a prolonged recession... A durable peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors (including the impending Palestinian state) will toll the knell of Israel's industrial-military complex. So, how will the IDF crowd recycle? Perhaps Israel's best niche is a mixture of Dubai and Macao: tax-free shopping malls for lavish Saudis alongside casinos and health resorts for Russian mobsters --with overall topnotch security, of course <g> Oh, and there's also the holy-joe tourism (Nazareth, Bethlehem,...)
Hey, how about a Bible Theme Park?

PA: US endorsement moves us closer to state

By Lamia Lahoud
November, 15 2001

JERUSALEM (November 15) - Palestinian Authority officials said yesterday, the eve of the 13th anniversary of the PLO's symbolic declaration of statehood in the West Bank, the Gaza
Strip, and east Jerusalem, that they have come closer to their aspiration of statehood as result of America's endorsement of a Palestinian state based on UN resolutions.

President George W. Bush expressed his support for a Palestinian state alongside Israel based on UN resolutions in his speech at the UN over the weekend.

The Palestinians expect the US to jump-start a campaign pushing for the immediate implementation of the Mitchell Report and the resumption of final-status talks following US Secretary of State Colin Powell's address in which he will outline the principles of the US ideas about peace in the Middle East.

"The state is coming, the state is coming," chanted a crowd of 3,000 at a Gaza Strip rally on the eve of the November 15 anniversary of the Algiers declaration, a national holiday for Palestinians.
