"Geek school"? You must be learning something to do with computers. I like to tease my kids by suggesting that we all go to a nice restaurant for Thanksgiving or Christmas. That gets shouts of disapproval - they want it to be the way it always is. The younger son is turning into quite a cook. He reads my cookbooks and tries to make things he wants to eat, even if it's things I've never made, like angel food cake, or Yankee-style corn bread (sweet and cake-y). He made beef jerky a couple of days ago - it was very good. Not everything he makes comes out right, like the home-made pasta - we do not have semolina flour so he used regular flour, and it clumped into a gluey mass when boiled. But I let him have at it. I am proud of his initiative. I just told him, next time let's get semolina flour first.
