L-3 Communications' ILEX Selected By US Army to Provide Engineering Services; Joint Venture to Share Ten-Year, $1.4 Billion Award
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2001--L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) announced today that ITel Solutions, a joint venture of L-3 Communications' ILEX Systems (L-3/ILEX) division and TELOS Corp., has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Software Engineering Center (SEC) with a potential value in excess of $1.4 billion over 10 years to provide systems and software engineering services to manage and support the life cycle activities associated with Mission Critical Defense Systems (MCDS) software, and to perform associated software engineering technology support and other efforts required by the CECOM SEC and its present and future customers.
Current MCDS include tactical and satellite communications, command and control, and avionics systems, as well as tactical fusion, and intelligence & electronic warfare systems.
Among the engineering support services that the joint venture will provide are: software architecture and technology; software development and maintenance; software integration and test, information systems security; field site support; and integration of assigned systems to create a cohesive battlefield environment.
