Get a test bed. This Korean telco. Then test WLANs. Using the lap top as the real 3G mobile terminal.

I believe that's exactly what is going on - and it explains all of the defensive moves from the telecoms at comdex and their attempts to grab attention at what is typically a PC-centric affair. While WLANs (HiperLAN/2) are part of 3G, the current versions aren't really 3G. The real fear of the telecom players is that they will be marginalized in the data space. Voice is a commodity if it's all you have.

802.11 is taking off and Microsoft has been a driving force (in the background) for the last year or so...
