it's interesting that most of the last mile solutions seem most easily attained in europe. here, only limited, privately financed rollouts. i know it's driving george gilder crazy. he recently hosted a big 'telecosm'/broadband 'come to jesus' type conference and pep rally in dc a little while ago. his point: govt has to help underwrite last mile buildout to revive retail/enterprise interest in tek again. xbox and playstation can't do it by themselves. so, who knows? be nice if it happened but i'm not holding my breath. regards, larry
