I don't object to a national emergency and jailing a broad range of suspects and keeping them there until terrorists are eliminated.

What is un-American is keeping secrets: secret trials, leading to unsubstantiated claims of terrorism and summary executions of "suspects" who may or may not be foreigners, or who may or may not but guilty.

Government always tends to expand its powers, unless held in check. When the other two branches are cut out of the picture by the Executive Branch, look out.
