Srexley, rightly or wrongly, I only wished to make a general statement that before 911, there was much comment, in the world press about Bush's isolationism, or perceived isolationism and there was also much defense from the Bush side that he was not an isolationist. If he was or was not, the view outside of the United States before 911 was that United States was less interested in playing with the rest of the world gang as it was in times before Bush.
About Putin, I'm a down and outer on him, but if good things can come from a relationship with him, I'm all for it. Putin played an important KGB role in East Germany. Spycraft in that part of the world (Remember, Putin was on the side of the "evil empire') was a vicious treacherous double-dealing, murderous game, and Putin played it well... Just cause Bush likes the guy is not going to make me a fan... It's just my nature, it will take me a while to trust him. But I'm not going to slam Bush if chooses to cultivate a relationship with Putin, and perhaps if I did, I shouldn't have. |
