Paul, Re: "Intel unveils world's smallest transistor with 15-nm device"

When Intel announced the achievement last year of creating a 30nm transistor, they broke all ground, beating even IBM to the punch. When earlier this year they announced 20nm transistors, I found it astounding, since the rest of the industry had yet to announce catching up to the 30nm milestone. Now Intel goes one step further with 15nm transistors, and I don't even know if anyone has caught up to their record last year.

Intel is certainly ahead in manufacturing, and it's nice to see that Chem-E Barrett's investments are really paying off in a big way.

Re: "Intel is expected to develop chips based on this process by 2009. By then, the company could have high-speed processors running at speeds of 20-GHz or faster, according to analysts."

An AMD rep was quoted as saying that AMD doesn't feel this would impact them competitively. AMD fully intends to have their Model 20000 processor well before Intel breaks the 20GHz barrier. <G>
