it's amazing how big skunks can get.

Raccoons too. I came across a raccoon once while driving on a mountain road that would not get out of the way. He just stood there nonchalantly looking at me as if to say "no, *you* get out of *my* way". And then he started advancing on me....I decided that staying stopped wasn't the right plan, so I put it in gear and offered up a game of chicken. I won, but when I drove by, he gave me the evil eye like you wouldn't believe.
