Thanks climber,

Used to play golf in Mountain View Ca, next Moffat AFB, if I remember correctly, where jets would be landing every few minutes.

A minute or so after a jet had passed overhead, you could hear the crackling noise of the "wake turbulence". Sounded vicious. Seen film footage that shows typical airliner is solidly built indeed normally.

Wellcome any comment from you as I post on this subject, specially if I say anything silly, as if I ever do that! LOL

ps. Re (earlier post) "British Airways has a more extensive data recording system then just the "black box". Lot's and lots of data recorded during each flight".

Would you know what that system is called? I believe it's named by just four letters or so. I know the USA has been interested in putting it in all aircraft, would make some much speculation unecessary in future when things go wrong.
